Women Project
We have many women from our church who are disowned by their husbands when they accept Christ, while others are widows. These ladies find it hard to take care of themselves and sustain their children as they could not find jobs because of their level of education. We introduced a project to help them take care of themselves.
The project involves purchasing piglets and raising them for a period of six months. They are then sold in the markets and the profits are distributed amongst the women. This ministry follows the principle “If you give someone a fish, you feed them for a day, but if you teach them how to fish, you feed them for life.” The aim of this project is to help these women learn a long-term trade of how to sustain themselves and their children. The knowledge gained from the project enables them to begin similar projects for themselves.
Women who have been involved in the project have had their eyes opened to realize that they can use the knowledge gained and the available resources they have to make a living and sustain themselves. “The Lord will open the heavens, the storehouse of His bounty, to send rain on your land in season and to bless all the work of your hands. You will lend to many nations but will borrow from none” (Deuteronomy 28:12). These women learn that they can start a business however small, and they now know that God will use it to help them earn a living and become self-sustaining.
